The navigator is so reliable that its 12 parallel channel GPS and WAAS receiver is accurate to within a few meters, making it appropriate for scavenger hunts as well as hikes and fishing trips. Each trip is completely customizable, with the ability to create new routes, waypoints, trails, and more. You can also easily recalculate your trip route should you get distracted and lose your way, and thanks to the MMC/SD card, the device can save and retrace up to 100 of your favorite plot trails, with up to 10,000 points in each path.

For the hiking enthusiast, the iFinder map display allows you to see your hiking plot trail (path taken); key landmarks, such as streams, roads, railroad tracks; or even add your own event markers, such as deer, trees, tent, or cabin icons. Your present hiking position and direction go travel is easy to view and the iFinder provides a straight line course (dotted line) to guide you to a chosen waypoint destination.

Although the iFinder comes with a custom built-in map, Lowrance sweetened the deal by throwing in its MapCreate USA Topo 6 software CD-ROM, along with an MMC digital memory card and an MMC/SD card reader/writer (Plus Package). MapCreate 6 offers a full set of searchable land features and more than two million points of interest, including restaurants, lodging, gas stations, emergency services, airports, shopping destinations, and more. It’s the ideal mapping software for getting from point A to point B, whether point B is across town or across the country. The included MMC memory card and card reader, meanwhile, help you transfer the mapping data from your PC to the iFinder. As a bonus, the iFinder also works with a variety of preloaded memory cards (no PC required), such as FreedomMaps, Fishing Hot Spots Elite, and LakeMaster Pro Maps.

To ensure efficient navigation for beginners — and to simplify operation for everyone else — Lowrance included both easy and advanced navigation modes. The easy mode minimizes the functionality but streamlines the features, and is ideal for situations that require simple, quick directions. Data-wise, the unit supports up to 1,000 waypoints and 1,000 event markers, along with 40 map zoom ranges (from 0.02 to 4,000 miles). Additional features include a 2.9-inch high-contrast backlit LED screen with 160 x 120 resolution, a port for connecting an optional external GPS+WAAS antenna (the FA-8), internal backup memory for storing your GPS data and settings, and support for FaceOffs face covers, which snap on and off effortlessly to give your iFinder its own unique flair. Lowrance sells FaceOffs in red, blue, yellow, black, and camouflage colors.

The pocket-sized unit measures 2.54 by 5.58 by 0.95 inches (W x H x D) and runs for up to 12 hours on two AA batteries (not included). It also includes a one-year warranty.

Lowrance iFinder Plus Handheld Mapping GPS + WAAS with Mapping Software, MMC / SD Card and Reader and USB Connector Reviews

Not to bad for the Price
I like it, it is easy to use. The control isn’t to hard to understand and it has a card reader inside. You are able to purchase a 2gb card and fill it up with data and this little thing can read it, as long as it is compatiable with the program.
